cloaks in Room 4

Room 4 is very busy working on their cloaks.
I made the shapes out of little pieces of paper.
My cloak is nice.

I made my cloak out of paper and I cut out some feathers.

cloaks

It was hard to make the cloak.

The Maori made cloaks out of feathers. My one is made out of paper.

Mine is made out of paper

My cloak looks beautiful and nice because of the leaves.

My cloak looks great.

I like my cloak.

It was fun making my cloak.

I liked it very much.

My cloak was made from dyed paper.

We had the idea to make the cloaks because we went to the marae and saw some.

Making Cloaks

Today Room 4 started making cloaks. We saw Whaiao Celess' cloak at the marae when we visited.
We made our own paper by rubbing crayons over surfaces and then dyeing the paper.

We were thinking of bird's feathers and skinny shapes and leaves.
We cut and pasted and it took a  long time.

Marae Visit Tuesday 12 June

Dear Parents

Our visit to Orakei Marae is coming very soon. We will need to be at school by 8.45am.
We leave school at 9.10am and return by 1.00pm.
It would be best to wear gumboots as it can be very muddy. Please no lace ups as we will be taking out shoes off and on several times.
We are looking forward to a great day.
Our programme includes rarangi that is flax weaving, kapahaka and spending time in the wharenui.

Please send in those permission notices as soon as possible.

Kind regards
Vanita Chandra.
