Houses from Ecuador painted in the Folk Art style.

Week One

We have looked at the animals on Galapagos Islands and we wrote poems as a class about the iguana and the blue footed boobie bird.
We brainstormed our ideas and wrote the poems together.

  The Iguana

Iguanas

Love to lie in the sun with a friend
To warm up
To  get some energy
Sunning themselves on a rock
Smiley faces in the sun

Well camouflaged bodies
Patchy colours and spikes
Running down their backs
Right down to the tip of their tails.

Rough and scaly are their skins
Ancient animals from long ago
Reminding us of dinosaurs long gone
Family of lizards
Living on Galapagos Islands in the sun

The Blue-Footed Boobie

The Blue footed boobie
It's got a name that makes you laugh
It's got feet like a goose
That's blue like the sea
It's like a penguin with blue feet
But loves the heat.

It loves to eat worms and fish
Spiders, grubs and crunchy crabs
Its wings are black not blue
It's the funniest bird you'll ever see
On Galapagos Islands in the sea.

WELCOME TO TERM 3

Dear Everyone,

Hope you all had a lovely holiday with your children.
Hopefully all the coughs and colds would be soon behind us.

Just a note about Spelling homework:
I have sent the level list in the children's homework books. This is a revision list, these are words that the children should know. Please just through them orally and  words not yet mastered can be noted as a list to learn. Children need to know these before progressing to the next level.

We are continuing with Reading Eggs and Mathletics so the subs for these need to be paid at the office. If you have already paid, of course it lasts until further notice.

Thanks
Vanita Chandra
